Costume Party
メキシコにいる間に毎日ブログを書こうと思っていたのですが、忙しすぎて出来なくなってきました。これから出来る時にやります。3日前にメキシコシティーで凄く楽しいライブをやりました。バンドを含めてライブにいた人の皆さんが仮装を着てきました。プロの映画の監督も来て、ビデオをとってくれました。ビデオが出来たらアップします。この写真から僕は誰か分かる？
I was going to try and write a blog everyday while I was in Mexico but I have been too busy working on the new CD to keep it up. However we played a really amazing show in Mexico City where everyone including the band came dressed up in costumes. We had a professional film crew there shooting videos which I will update when they are finished. Can you recognize me in this picture?

Mexico Day 3 Tabasco
昨日『A Love Electric』とタバスコメキシコのジャズフェスティバルに出演しました。凄く楽しいライブでした。非常にきれいなハールがあって素晴らしいエンジニアさんもいて完璧な状況で演奏しました。今まで二度目に９６鍵盤のBosendorferピアノを弾きました。他の１度はメキシコシティーでした。余分の８鍵盤のあるピアノが弾けて凄く楽しかったのですが、時々中央ドの鍵盤の位置が分からなくなったのです。１０００人ぐらいがいて、とても興奮してくれました。印象的な演奏でした！
Last night's show with "A Love Electric" was amazing. We played at a really beautiful hall with a great sound engineer and staff. For the second time in my life I got to play a 96 key Bosendorfer piano. The only other time was in Mexico City. I feel like a kid in a candy store having an extra 8 keys but sometimes I can't tell where middle C is. We played for about 1000 people and they were so into the music. It was a very memorable gig!

Mexico Day 2 First Gig
３月２５日にメキシコの一番大きななミュージックフェスティバル『Vive Latino』に出演することになったので、ライブの前にメキシコシティーで『Brainkiller』として他のライブが出来ません。という訳で『A Love Electric』というバンドに入ってポランドのレストラン／ジャズクラブでライブをやりました。お客さんはそんなにいなかったけど、ある程度今日のジャズフェスティバルのライブのためのリハーサルみたいな感じでした。弾いたことないオリジナル曲をやって、バンドメートと全然違う状況で演奏することが出来て凄く楽しかったです。今日のライブはうまく行くと思います。
Since Brainkiller is playing at a big festival on March 25th we are unable to play as Brainkiller in Mexico City before the show. So last night we played with a band called Love Electric at a Polish Restaurant/Jazz Club. It wasn't a great turnout but it was more or less a warm up show for the big jazz festival we are playing today in Tabasco. It was a lot of fun to play some new original music and play with my band mates in a completely different setting than usual. I think tonight's show is going to be really good.

Mexico Day 1 The Arrival
２２時間の空の旅が終わったら、ようやくメキシコシティーに到着しました。天気が最高です！長い寒い日本の冬の後に凄く気持ちです。バンドメートに会って、３時間のリハーサルをしました。去年のイタリアツアー以来初めてあいかわらず楽しいです。日本であまりないパパイヤやマンゴー等の熱帯フールツをたくさん食べました。日本の値段の十分の一ぐらいです。『Quesadilla』という代表的なメキシコ料理も食べました。良い最初の日でした！
After 2 flights and a layover totaling 22 hours I finally arrived in Mexico City. The weather here is absolutely perfect. So nice after a long cold winter in Japan. I met my band mates and we did a long rehearsal. First time to play with them since Italy last summer and it is a lot of fun. I pigged out on amazing tropical fruit like papayas and mangoes which I rarely get a chance to eat in Japan. I also had an amazing salad and some quesadillas. Good first day!

Sticking Out Like a Sore Thumb
先週の土曜日に吉祥寺にあるイタリアレストランで妻の家族の親睦会のためにピアノを弾きました。３０人しかいなかったのに、音だけによると１００人ぐらいがいると思うほど騒がしかったです。妻のおじさんの甥さん（ジュンペイくん）がベースを弾くから一緒に何曲か演奏してとても楽しかったです。親睦会の最後にこの写真が撮られました。あまりにも目立つ時に英語で『stick out like a sore thumb』と言います。直訳で言うと『痛む親指のように突き出る』。
This past Saturday night I played piano for my wife's family reunion at an Italian restaurant in Tokyo. About 30 people showed up but they were having so much fun it sounded like 100. One of my wife's distant relatives (Junpei) is a bassist so we played together for a quite a few songs and it was a lot of fun. Here's the picture that we took at the end of the party.
